COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) is seeking community input for the design of its new West Case Branch, which will be constructed on the city’s northwest side and become CML’s 24th location serving Franklin County.

Customers are invited to attend a public meeting to connect with CML leaders and architects from MSR Design.

Thursday, April 3 | 5-8 p.m.
Carriage Place Community Center | 4900 Sawmill Rd.

Additionally, an online survey is available for community members to provide their input through April 11.

As announced earlier this year, the new West Case Branch will be built within a planned City of Columbus park located across from The Ohio State University’s airport on Case Road. The City of Columbus purchased this parcel of land – informally known as the “sheep farm” – from the university in 2019.

Construction of the new branch is expected to begin next year. CML hopes to open the new branch in 2027.

COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library’s (CML) Board of Trustees today unanimously approved the selection of MSR Design as the architect for the new West Case Branch that will be constructed on the city’s northwest side. When completed, the new branch will become CML’s 24th library location serving Franklin County.

The new library branch will be built within a planned City of Columbus park located across from The Ohio State University’s airport on Case Road. The City of Columbus purchased this parcel of land – informally known as the “sheep farm” – from the university in 2019.

“We are so excited to partner with the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department on this project,” said CML CEO Lauren Hagan. “We know that northwest residents have been eager for a community library, and we’re delighted by the opportunity to fulfill that desire in an area that has not previously had close access.”

Construction of the new branch is expected to begin next year. MSR Design, a women-owned architecture firm, enriches lives by designing a better future. The firm creates transformative and human-centric, award-winning architecture and interior design. Since 1981, the firm has produced work of enduring value: buildings that are expressly right for their time and place and that culturally and physically age gracefully. They tailor their design solutions to each client, resulting in a diverse mix of sustainable, equitable, healthy, beautiful projects.
