COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) is hosting After-School Experience Open Houses to share the many ways CML can support students after school. Click here for the open house schedule. Families can learn more about:

  • Reading Buddies: One-on-one reading practice with an adult for students K-3.
  • School Help: Academic supportforstudents K-12.
  • Teens Create Open Studio: A space where teens can explore their creativity, craft unique projects, create music, and connect with friends (offered at select locations).
  • After-School Snack: In partnership with the Children’s Hunger Alliance (offered at select locations).
  • More: Click here to learn more about how CML strives to be an engaging after-school space for central Ohio students.

School Help starts on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The programoffers free academic support for K-12 students. They can stop in to get help with schoolwork or join in skill-building activities. Students will have access to computers and supplies with friendly staff and volunteers to guide them, plus access to free online research tools.

COLUMBUS—As thousands of central Ohio children and teens return to school this month, Columbus Metropolitan Library’s (CML) School Help Centers reopen at 22 of its 23 locations. Starting Monday, Aug. 21, K-12 students will once again have a free place to get help with their schoolwork from friendly staff and volunteers.

Formerly known as Homework Help Centers, School Help Centers offer students access to welcoming spaces to study and learn, as well as computers, printers, digital research tools and CML’s catalog, including eBooks.

To mark the opening of these dedicated spaces, CML will hold a brief media event at the newly rebuilt Gahanna Branch, which opened in March. Gahanna K-12 students will join library leaders to cut the ribbon on the new branch’s School Help Center.

Starting Monday, Aug. 23, K-12 students will once again have a free place to get help with their schoolwork from friendly staff and volunteers.

For the safety of students and staff amid the ongoing pandemic, masks will be required while in the School Help Center. All CML staff continue to wear masks regardless of their vaccination status.
